Eco Echo Studio is a woman-owned, small business. that works in service to the incredible biodiversity and cultures of the Outer Piedmont of the Southeast, echoing ecology and fostering connection. We design our projects from the ground up, according to the unique characteristics of each site and our clients’ needs. We believe that every project can have a positive impact that reaches far beyond its borders: on its inhabitants and visitors, neighbors, broader ecological communities, and watershed.
Putting the right plant in the right place and designing for stormwater translates to lower maintenance, fewer demands on resources, and increased resilience. Sustainability and client success are our priority when designing with fruit, herbs, and vegetable beds. We also try to use or repurpose existing materials onsite as much as possible.
With love to our grandparents’ gardens, we want to design in ways that rise to the challenges we face today and give us hope for the future.
Our typical service range includes the cities of Atlanta, Hapeville, East Point, College Park, and Decatur, but we are happy to travel beyond that if compensated.
Alex Lampert is an ecological landscape designer, born and raised in Atlanta with a dozen years lived elsewhere. She grew up playing in creeks that fed the Chattahoochee, making art and building worlds for salamanders and frogs. In her early career, an interest in landscape design at the intersection of urbanism, agriculture, and art led her to sustainable food systems. She worked for local food nonprofits and supply chains and as a chef for over a decade, all while finding ways to keep her hands in the dirt, growing food. The onset of a chronic illness pulled her out of kitchens and forced her to rethink her career. The landscape had never lost its pull, but now, after beginning to learn about ecological relationships beyond food systems, she knew the path forward had to be more inclusive of her non-human neighbors, and more rigorously scientific.
All of these experiences informed a deep sense of hospitality that grew, extended into the natural world, and now informs how she develops sensory experiences, layers textures, and crafts resilient landscapes that nourish people, wildlife, and the land.
